Mozilla quer produzir telemóvel por $25 dólares

I’m a big fan of Firefox OS and with all these reveals and new devices I fell like a children opening the Christmas presents.

From Barcelona came the announcement that Mozilla is working on a new device to be sold for $25 dollars, and they already have a working prototype of it.

Sou um grande fã do Firefox OS e com todas estas revelações e novos equipamentos sinto-me quase como uma criança a abrir os presentes de natal.

De Barcelona veio o anúncio que a Mozilla está a trabalhar num telemóvel para ser vendido em mercados emergentes por apenas 25 dólares, e até já existe um protótipo funcional.

These phones won’t exactly look like the average smartphone—they’ll be smaller, for one thing, and have less power and screen resolution. But that’s the whole point. In countries where $200 or $300 devices just aren’t viable for some consumers, Mozilla is aiming to connect a huge demographic to the data and tools that they need.

Estes telemóveis não se parecem com a maioria dos telemóveis, vão ser mais pequenos e vão ter ecrãs com baixa resolução. Será interessante ver qual o desempenho do Firefox OS em equipamentos com especificações ainda mais modestas que os actuais.
