Como instalar drivers não assinados no Windows 8.1

This weekend I lost almost an hour trying to install the drivers for the Geeksphone Keon on my Windows 8.1 laptop, the issue is that the drivers are unsigned and Windows automatically block them.

The solution is not obvious, but here you have a step by step guide that will work for all unsigned drivers.

Este fim-de-semana perdi quase uma hora a tentar instalar os drivers para o Geeksphone Keon no meu portátil com Windows 8.1, o problema é que os drivers não estão digitalmente assinados e o Windows bloqueia a instalação automaticamente.

A solução não é obvia, mas deixo-te aqui um guia passo a passo que funciona para todos os drivers que não estejam digitalmente assinados. Todas as opções são referidas em Inglês, não utilize o Windows em Português e não quero arriscar uma tradução incorrecta.

Open your charms bar pressing Windows + C and then click Settings.

Abre a tua barra charms premindo as teclas Windows + C.

You need to change some settings, so click on Change PC settings, this will open the control panel.

Vais precisar de modificar algumas definições, por isso clica em Change PC settings, isto vai abrir o painel de controlo.

On control panel click Update and Recovery.

No painel de controlo clica em Update and Recovery.

Then click on the Recovery option on the left hand side.

Depois clica na opção recovery do lado esquerdo.

To get access to the advanced options that allow you to deactivate this protection you need to restart your computer.

Para teres acesso às opções avançadas que permitem desactivar esta protecção tens de reiniciar o computador.

Once your Computer has rebooted choose the Troubleshoot option.

Assim que o computador reiniciar escolhe a opção Troubleshoot.

Choose Advanced options among the troubleshoot options.

Escolhe Advanced options.

Open Startup Settings option from the set of Advanced options.

Abre a opção Startup Settings localizada nas Advanced options.

Then Startup Settings, click the Restart button on screen to reboot your computer again.

Depois Startup Settings e clica no botão Restart para reiniciar o computador novamente.

On the Startup Settings screen, tap the F7 or 7 key on your keyboard to select the “Disable driver signature enforcement” option.

No ecrã de definições iniciais prime a tecla F7 ou 7 para seleccionar a opção “Disable driver signature enforcement”

You can now install unsigned drivers as you would on previous versions of Windows. Windows will alert you if you try to install a driver that isn’t properly signed, but you’ll see an “install this driver software anyway” option you can choose.

Já podes instalar drivers que não estão digitalmente assinados como podias nas versões anteriores do Windows. O Windows vai alertar-te sempre que tentares instalar um driver que não esteja devidamente assinado, mas disponibiliza uma opção “install this driver software anyway” que podes usar para instalar.

When you’re done installing the unsigned drivers, reboot your computer. Windows will keep using any unsigned drivers you’ve already loaded, even as it enforces signature requirements for new drivers.

Quando terminares a instalação reinicia o computador novamente. O Windows vai continuar a utilizar os drivers que instalas-te mas vai repor novamente as definições originais.
